79th ARTHUR MANOR INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION IN DAVIS PARK!July 4th at 9:45AM Starts at Sprague and Bell (note: NOT Sprague and Lyons as printed in Timely Tidings newsletter!) Come join friends and neighbors and celebrate our nation's birthday and an extra-special event right here in Arthur Manor that’s as American as apple pie. Residents are invited to participate: Decorated Bicycles Decorated Tricycles, Strollers and Carriages Floats (Wagons) Marchers and (Dogs!) in Patriotic Costumes
Judging of the above listed categories of decorated participants will take place at the assembly site before the parade begins. The parade will begin at 9:45am. It will proceed east on Sprague Road to Lyons Road, north on Lyons Road to Boulevard, east on Boulevard to Bradley Road, north on Bradley Road to Carman Road, and west on Carman Road into Davis Park. The parade participants will gather near the flagpole for the raising of Old Glory, Pledge of Allegiance, and National Anthem. A short speech will be given and prizes will be awarded to parade participants. Races and games will follow, including three-legged, sack, and wheelbarrow. And everyone’s favorite “The Egg Toss”.
Hot Dogs and Lemonade will be available. Volunteers are needed to help set things up; please contact Ms. Margaret Marcus 723-0870 if you are interested in helping. Also, a bake sale is planned. All those interested in serving or providing baked goods, please contact Kate Porco at 725-8211.
